Short Term Lets in Clapham, London:
Clapham
A gorgeous south London neighbourhood with pristine Georgian-era townhouses, cosy pubs and lush stretches of greenery, Clapham also boats a reputation for its impressive nightlife. It’s one of the main draws for the many young professionals who live here — the high street is rarely, if ever, empty on the weekends. In the summer, the vast expanse of Clapham Common is a favourite spot for locals to lounge on a warm day, offering several fabulous brunch spots which skirt the outer edges of the Common.

Restaurants
TRINITY // trinityclapham.com
Without a doubt Clapham’s best restaurant, this near-perfect neighbourhood eatery earned itself a Michelin star ten-years after its 2006 opening. The restaurant itself is almost the definition of elegance; it’s interiors are not overly fussy and certainly not pretentious — it manages to remain smart without being intimidating or austere. The service is diligent, swift and friendly (what more could anyone ask?) and a pleasant atmosphere is maintained by a low-key but buzzing hum of conversation.
MINNOW // minnowclapham.com
Unlike the name perhaps suggests, Minnow, although a small restaurant, is still surprisingly roomy once you’re inside. Even better, it has a wonderful view of Clapham Common, making it a lovely spot for a little mid-afternoon people watching. This popular spot has a well curated cocktail list, with each drink inspired by a famous Clapham resident — take The Greene (calvados, triple sec and apple) after titanic British author Graham Greene, or The Greig (vodka, vermouth, saltwater and smoke) after Norweigan composer Edvard Greig, who lived close to the Common during his stays in London between 1888 and 1906.
COUNTER CULUTURE // counterculture.com
A sought-after spot, Counter Culture is an intimate affair — and you’ll have to book well in advance — but the care and artistry that goes into the food made here makes it well worth the wait. With a regularly changing menu, head chef Andy Hogben, from Somm Saa and Kym’s fame, is using the latest iteration to explore veganism — moving away from thinking about vegan food as simply finding “substitutes” for meat, and instead finding new, thoughtful and complex vegan dishes.
SORELLA // sorellarestaurant.com
A sibling of both Counter Culture and The Dairy (indeed, Sorella means “sister” in Italian) — Sorella brings a touch of the Amalfi coast to the Clapham suburbs. The menu on offer here are deceptively simple — don’t be fooled, this is some of the best food you might eat in London, hands down. The knockout dishes are of course, pasta —- followed closely by the close to divine desserts. Visitors must cry the cep gnocchi with wild mushrooms, and for dessert (or, ‘dolci’ as the Italians call it), the barley affogato with vodka-laced milk.
After Hours
No.32 THE OLD TOWN // no32theoldtown.com
A firm favourite with Clapham-ites, it’s rare you’ll find this cocktail bar empty — indeed, it’s usually heaving with the bright young things of South London come the weekend. So it’s most certainly not a spot for a quiet drink. That said, if you’re after a buzzing atmosphere and a little bit of excitement, you won’t go far wrong with No.32.
POWDERKEG // powderkeg.com
A warm and inviting “Victorian” cocktail bar with disarmingly charming staff in bowler hats and vintage skirts, it’s a lovely place to while away a Friday evening over several expertly crafted cocktails. The menu, although a little earnest with it’s silly jokes, is expertly thought-out and the cocktails are expertly delivered. And, you’ll be pleased to know, it’s weekend opening hours extend to 2am.
